My SSS UMID came earlier than I expected, UMID means Unified Multipurpose Identification System. I had applied for it last April 2012 at our company office. Sykes Asia- Cebu had communicated with the SSS office so to accommodate their employees for the ID picture taking. Way before April, I had already submitted my application papers to the HR office and they emailed back with the corresponding schedules. I can't recall the exact date but I remember I came very early that day and someone gave us priority numbers. It was a quick though the personnel had taken my portrait twice. Though the photo came out not that satisfying, I am already contented with it.

Since the ID was addressed to my provincial address in Guindulman, Bohol I didn't have any single idea that the letter from SSS with my ID came earlier. Mom received it last August but forgot to give it to me when we went to Manila last September to attend the wedding of my cousin, Jez and Bambie. I didn't receive her text message either, she had informed me via sms when she received it, I don't know but I never really received that notification. It should supposedly arrive after six months but it was two months early.

I went to the Social Security Service office last November 21, 2011 to update my incorrect SSS information  and the lady officer informed me that I have to wait for a month  for the changes to take effect. In my head, I thought a month is very long for just one info to be updated though I already know a lot of Filipino citizens might have been going through the same issue.

So today, even if it wasn't a month long yet I tried logging into my online SSS account. Surprisingly, my last name seemed to be changed already! From Butihan, now it's Butihen, my mom would be happy once she knows about this. Hooray!!! SSS seemed to be fast now. I wonder if this has been already updated weeks before. Anyway, this is actually great news!

This Monday has been a busy and long day for me, I woke up as early as 1 o'clock in the morning. I watched a movie and as promised, prepared to go to SSS (Social Security Service) office. Tanya and I agreed to meet at the site at 5am.

Tanya arrived earlier so she had reserved a spot for me in the line which raised the other people's eyebrows, teehee. I was late with our agreed time, I reached the office at 6:10. Gladly, I didn't have to wait for a long time since the guards had already opened the office at 6:30 anyway, we had a little chat about how the Breaking Dawn movie came out.

Since I came to update my SSS records, we have to separate and fall in different lines. I actually have an incorrect middle name, thanks to our municipal registrar who had typed it incorrectly but it was already been updated and NSO authenticated, click here to know how I changed it.

While my colleagues are chatting on gbuzz about our twilight saga The breaking Dawn part 1 movie schedule today we had gone to the ID topic without knowing how. I soon realized that I don't have any government ID at all, I can't really consider my driver's license as one because of I-can't-tell reasons. 

One of my colleagues told me that those identification cards are really important most specially if you are traveling and that was my turning point. I then thought of why I don't have any IDs at all except for my company ID. I didn't bother securing those IDs since after all I can't really get out of the country due to my DOST scholarship. I realized I was actually wrong, I should have exerted effort getting those but then I thought, I actually had tried once.

I recalled that time when I was going through the process of correcting my middle name, I was required to provide supporting documents and one of the few was voter's id. I don't have one so I immediately went to our town's Commission on Elections' office and I won't forget what the personnel told me, he said that only a few voters are given those cards, unfortunately I am not one of them. This is unacceptable but what can I do? I asked for reasons, they said that's how it really works, wow! I was surprised! Is it because the Philippine Government has been really poor that it can't provide cards for every voter? I felt discriminated of course. In the end, I went home with the certified-true-copy application for registration instead.

After one year, one month and eight days of being employed, I have come across on checking on those deductions that I has been seeing on my payslip. Striking me is SSS which stands for Social Security System. Looking at the amount, I could still remember how I was able to get my SS number. It was quite a hassle but the experience was worth it, sometimes we need to be stressed out to learn how to do this. I just had an existing issue with my account since the lady at the counter have found out that there was a problem with my middle name. On my NSO birth ceritificate, instead of Butihen, it was Butihan. The lady advised me to use the one that the certificate reflects. Up until now, I don't know what to do with it. Maybe I'll work with this problem later on. As for now, I need to create my online SSS account so I can track my contributions.

 

I talked to Janet, my colleague and she told me how to do it and what website to log in to. She also had given me my employer's SS number so I was good to go. I was excited though so I registered on my station, I wasn't able to wait for 6:00am and use my own computer. Since sss.gov.ph was accessible, then I went on and created it. So I filled all information needed. SS Number, complere name, birthday, mother's maiden name, address, contact number, email address and preferred username and in my case since I have an employer, I needed to also enter it's SS number. But say you are self-employed or voluntary or non-working spouse or maybe an overseas contract worker, then you need to provide any SBR NO. found on the RSS Receipt Form of SSS paid at least six months prior to the current data. You just need to enter the captcha code, accept terns and conditions and you are good to go. An email will be sent to you providing you with the password.

As for my case, I have received the confirmation email after half an hour. The password was given on the email and as soon as you sign in, you will be prompted to change the system generated password to your preferred one.

 

Once logged in, I clicked on the online inquiry then click the first menu and navigate to actual premiums so I can view my monthly contributions. And here is it:
