Globe Way-max Strike 2
Thought my internet problems have been fixed after globe had changed my modem, but it was the total opposite. Three days after the fix, another problem occurred. There was no more signal lights on the modem and so it means there was no internet connection at all. The problem started last Tuesday, June 28, 2011. I tried troubleshooting it, restart the router, power cycled but there was no avail. I waited again for 24 hours but no progress at all. I called Globe at the second day and told them about the situation. The rep named Jess assured me that they are monitoring my connection and said there was no problem with it as their system shows so they will just send their technicians to personal check the modems and the wires if necessary.
Wimax Gets Back With A New Face
For months, I have been unsatisfied with Globe Wimax' connection, downloading of even a single movie takes two or more days which is worse than my Smartbro connection. I was just being patient about it until the other day, June 21, 2011 when I woke up at five in the afternoon and the modem was not emitting light on the LED signals. I had experienced getting a blinking signal light before but that was different, even a signal blink was not showing at all. I tried troubleshooting it; power cycle didn't help, unplug and plugging the cables back but still no avail. I just went back to sleep hopeful that the connection would come back later the day. But when I woke up at ten in the evening, there was still no sign of any light from the LED. I was starting to be impatient. I said to myself to wait for 24 hours although I am already thinking that the problem is definitely about the modem! My router's no use at all at this point in time as well. So I went to work and when I came back home, there was still no progress!
First Wimax Bill Payment
As you already know, I subscribed to Globe Wimax and had it installed last December. And so last week, I received my first Globe Wimax Bill. I was surprised to see the fees breakdown. On my last post titled Hello Globe Wimax, I told you that the installation and all that were free. Unfortunately on my bill, I have an installation fee of Php 446.43 :
So basically, I was wrong because the installation was not free at all, that is a disappointment. But anyway, I just let it be since the installation service was an A+.
Above is the total bill amount which covers the installation fee, the MRF or monthly recurring fee for December 30, 2010 to January 5, 2011 and from January 6 to February 5, 2011. Notice that their monthly cut-off is every 5th of the month and that I need to pay this amount on or before January 26, 2011. One of my friends told me that I must, if I could, pay early because Globe tracks the payments made by their customers and they sometimes give freebies and prizes to those who make their payments before the due date. Just saying but hopefully that is true, I might win some free stuffs. :)
Anyway the amount above is not the final one, as you can see there is something missing there. Yes, you are right! There's no tax yet, so here is the final billing statement:
Since I was aiming for the early bird prize, though I'm not sure if that is true, I went to Elizabeth Mall with James to pay for the bill. The Globe corner at E-mall is not that big, in fact it is somewhat like the Cebuana Lhuiller corner, this might be because they mostly cater payments here unlike their office in SM where they also cater inquiries and sometimes I guess plan management. But anyway, this is how the place looks like:
Since there were still a couple of people inside, after asking for the priority number we waited outside. Like Smart Communication, they also have this electronic machine which prints out priority numbers operated by the security guard. I asked James to do the honor since I was busy taking pictures outside.
It only took a few minutes and we're done! 'Til next month then.

Hello Globe Wimax
I have internet connection now with Globe Wimax. Starting today, I am a certified Globe Wimax user and I will be observing it for a month now since they have their money back guarantee agreement on their contract form. Actually, I never paid anything with the installation compared to Smartbro's where I was asked to pay Php150 for the wires. From the start of the online application to the installation, it was all for free.
I can also say that the customer service was good, I applied online a couple of weeks ago and after 24 hours, I received a text message from Tina about the application and was told that an application form will be sent to me within 24 hours. So to say, the next day, I received a call from Air 21 about the application form from Globe. The same day, I received the application form and completed the requirements. It took me about three days to send the form because I thought I will handle all the expenses in sending the form back, we even went to a Globe Center to check their plans but then Tina called and asked me if I am ready with the form and the requirements so that Air21 can pick it up the next day out of charge, super happy to hear about the free service, I then agreed to continue and have the form picked up the next day, that was December 23, 2010.
It was almost Christmas back then and I need to go home to Bohol so when a Globe agent called me, instead of the 26th, I asked them to have it installed in the 30th. I still received two phone calls from the installers on the 26th, they said they want to conduct a signal test on the area, I declined since I was in Bohol that time.
So when the 30th came, that's today, I received their call at 11:30 in the morning about the installation and I confirmed. We communicated and at two o'clock in the afternoon, we met at McDonalds and eventually started installing the external antenna. Jhong was the one who configures while the other kuya was the installer of the antenna. It was just a 30 minute process and the taaaraa! The internet was up and running. Jhong tested the connection just to make sure it was stable. After the testing and all, everything was in stable mode. James and I served them some "merienda" with a soft drink and bread spread with my Mama Vicky's Home-made Peanut Butter.
I signed a confirmation form and then bid goodbye to the two of them. Now, I am enjoying the good connection, let's see them if there will be problems with my one month money-back guarantee time!
