Eating at an expensive food place without spending a cent is one of the beauties of working in a BPO company. The company spends some amount on each employee quarterly so he or she can go out either visit a new place, spend time with their teams on a team social session or either eat on some expensive “slash” eat all you can restaurant.
Because of the account support change which I had gone through last four months ago, I was not able to use my second and third quarter budgets and so are my colleagues and so, my ex-lead got our entire budget and resulted to a very big big sum of money. Our team was called the Team Spankers by the way for no exact reason why it's named that way.
We first planned our team building and decided to go to Moalboal, my dear friend Darwin’s home town and we were very much thrilled about the thought of going out of town until our ex-lead busted that huge bubble dream because of unforeseen circumstances. That may be heart breaking but our stomach become full because of it, why? Because we ended up having allocating the budget for food instead, boy we had filled our stomachs with gladness!
We're Three Years Now
Officially, I had just spent three long years in call center last May 11, 2012. Oh I can’t believe I am still in this work field and I guess I am staying. But this post is not just about my experience but about my wave-mate’s whole three-year experience as well. The previous year, we came up with a lunch date at Pino Restaurant while this time, we decided for dinner at Ding Qua Qua in JY Square Lahug.
Unlike before, only a few of the original wave 60 team showed up, made me think the others are now busy with their lives but overall it was still fun. Daryl, Mercy, Ate Dyreen, Reggy, TL Michelle along with Tittah came though Tittah was not really a part of our team, he was invited by Daryl and I tagged James too! As usual, we started the whole night with eating at six then laughing and waiting for the others. I was super glad Ate Dyreen came, she looks young as usual and I just learned she is just working at home now. We were kidding her to get a baby as soon as possible so she could get a company at home, she just laughed.
Mercy is still the same happy-go-lucky lad, she has this pure, innocent laugh and you’ll get amazed by how fast she talks. I appreciated her time attending the date even though she has a duty at nine. I had a great time catching up with her, I guess the last time we met was the previous lunch date too with the team. I also learned from her that she is now living alone, she was under her aunt’s roof the last time and I am glad she is now living independently, soo love this gal.
Last Friday Night
I am posting this because March is fast forthcoming and that basically means, it's almost the end of my current team and I am definitely gonna miss this part. What I am blabbing about is our Friday Night Shirt theme with my colleagues and team mates in the current account. On the next month, we don't know where and what team are we gonna end up with so as early as now, I want to show that this had made my work more amusing - the people, environment and the fun support. Change in this type of work is very inevitable, all we have to do is to accept and keep on moving on to life. Anyway, almost three years on this technical account has made my time on the call center planet a pleasing journey indeed.
Wave 60's 2nd Year at Pino

Wave 60 had turned 2 years last May 11 and so we came up with a lunch date with the wave mates to celebrate this special event. Though it was a late celebration, we were very happy we were able to spend time with each other and catch up with what has been happening to everyone's lives. Last year, I posted about our first year. Click here for the blogpost.
The following is the complete wave 60 list: Kevin Pulvera, Jeansen Dianne Torre, Evan Marie Penzon, Maria Cristina, Malvin Kim Daiz, Louella Jane Tamboboy, Dyreen Suficencia, Ailyn (Aya), Reggy Sultan, Daryl Gapor, Tanya Mae Pinili, Mercy Mae Dupa, Loreto Gaerlan, Houer Baduel, Kyle Magallano, John Ray, Michael Bern Angulo, Jovy De Guzman, Nikolai Marfa, EJ, Mark Tolo and yours truly.
We were originally 20 but as of now only seven of us are still in Sykes, namely Tanya, Loreto, Reggy, Evan, Kyle, Daryl and me, of course.
So yesterday was our lunch date, Tanya and I had been the most punctual guys. Soon, Mercy, Reggy and Kim came then John too. We started eating since most of us were already starving. Some who committed to come called or sent some messages informing us that they can't come. Specially our original team lead, Michelle and Michael Bern who was admitted because of tonsillitis, get well soon Bern. Though we felt bad they were unable to come, we still managed to be joyful during the whole time we were there. We updated each other upon what had been happening with our lives. We learned that John is now a businessman, Mark Tolo in the other hand is in Accenture with a confidential position, his looks show that he is in the higher management and he did mention that he is handling people, wow. Voj is under OJT and will soon graduate, he stopped working because he needed to focus on his study. Mercy, the jolly gal of the group had stayed the same, still a funny girl and still single. She has been paired with most of the guys, John, Reggy, Voj and Marfa. Here's a photo of Mercy and Reggy:
Chillin' out at the Cartzone (SYKES xmas party 2010)
We just had a blast last night at the Cartzone, it was Sykes' 2010 Christmas Party, real early huh? It doesn't matter though as long as everyone had enjoyed it. We had our exchanging gift session as well during the party. As expected, not all of the team members came but most did so it was still a good night. The weather was nice and rain didn't come, just so you know before the event, there was a three consecutive heavy rainy night and all of us were just praying it won't rain and God answered us! Thanks to that cloud churva, I forgot its name but I bet you know and you have seen it already. Markem said it breaks the nimbus clouds and so it won't rain. Well, I guess I remember its name now, it is Cloud Breaker? Hmmm.. not sure though, I gotta ask Markem again. Hehe
Anyways, I came late, the party started at six but I came two hours late and I was disappointed because the food zone that I got to line up almost had no more food. I ate fish fillets only! Grrr, they should have prepared lots of food since the venue is just super near to our office and agents would surely come. That was such a great disappointment!
There were two stand up comedians while I was eating and were bullying our OMD as well as my ex-team mate, Reggy. Those two gays would tend to kiss Reggy and an SE team leader every time they answer their questions. Everyone was laughing out loud during that segment, I can't help to laugh as well.
So then we started with the exchanging gift session, I had bought a Dickies sunglass for my Manito, Arnan. We had set Php 300 as the minimum amount for the gifts, my gift though worth almost Php 500. I never though that sunglass would be so expensive. But anyway, I was still happy because I was able to receive a gift (some of my team mates were not since their Manito/Manita were absent). check it out:
My gift from Tommy! Thanks!!

This was also my first to attend my company's Christmas party and I no regrets at all, it was all fun fun fun! I will be looking forward for our gift packs.. hehe

Hi there, do you like the above picture? You can design a page like that as well with the help of my sticker set, my very first sticker collection. I had made sticker-flowers, memos, bookmarks, clippings ang a lot more. I had created this last weekend, I was kinda inspired that time though, haha.
If you are wondering what was the event on the picture, I am generous enough to tell where was that taken. The photos are already three weeks old actually. It was taken at Sugbu, SRP Cebu during the Sykes Party 2010 entitled "Together Sykes". That day, my company had launched it's new branding which is "Support in more ways than one." This was my first time actually since last year, I was still new there and that I don't have someone to go with. Now, my colleagues had decided to go also so did I. In the first photo, starting from the left is Daryl Gapor, Jon Cito Morales, Voltaire Songcuya, Michelle Sabio and yours truly. The next photo, I had with me our team lead, Michelle Sabio. Thanks to TL Marvin for the pictures!
I created this page for only 10 minutes so I know you can also create something like this or more attractive than this. I used a dark background here so the items on the page will be highlighted. I also used some bookmarks and the picture backgrounds are the memos. You can also add some texts just like how I added a tag about the event and where it was held.
If this is your first time to create a digital scrapbook also, I suggest you use Adobe Photoshop. I am not familiar with other tools though but I love Photoshop, I guess it is the most popular photo editing tool I have ever known. Well, that is only my opinion anyone can correct me if I am wrong.
Well, moving on, if you would like to have the zip file of my first sticker collection, feel free to click the link here just don't forget to leave a message below, I would really appreciate that. Thanks guys...kisses***

Just celebrated my first year here in Sykes Asia Inc. So happy to be working in a technical account since fluentness of the foreign language is not a necessity though it is important. I love my wavemates, I love our bond and I also love the respect we show to each other. Originally, we were 20 as a full wave, as of now, we are only nine left. Two of us were transferred to a different team but we still keep in touch through gmail or outlook.
Just to mention, if I could still remember, my wave mates were Kevin Pulvera, the first one to resign the very first night we took calls for the main reason that his customers were much more knowledgeable than him. I could not remember who were the next to resign or to go on AWOL but we had Nikolai, forgot his last name, I believe he is still studying today, we had EJ, Houer Baduel, this guy is really unique, I could not forget his line when he asked the customer "Sir, can I hold you?" instead of "Can I place you on hold, Sir?", good thing that was just when we were doing our rehearsal with a teammate and not with an actual customer. Next was Voj De Guzman, this was the sleepy head of the group, this is primarily because he was still going to school at STI in the morning and works at night, one instant where in I could not forget him was when he was documenting his call and suddenly, I just noticed there was a continuous beep by a keyboard, looking back since I was just seating beside his station, I found out he was actually sleeping. His document page was already full o letter 'A'. We also had the fashionista gal, Tina. I could not forget her star tattoos around her waist. She is sexy and the reason she resigned was because of family problems. Next was Jeansen Dianne Torre, a Boholana like me, she went on absent without leave, she was sick that time and was not able to call in for two days, she was then shy to go back to work and just let it be that way. We had Louella Jane as well, we call her Lae. She was so fond of this Korean guy named Heartbreaker, I am not sure but it sounded like that. I just love his shoes anyway, hehe. She was the one who gives us updates about the group of Sandara, the 21 girls. Next was Aya, a very outrageous lad, I believe she was the most experienced wave mate I knew. She had worked in Convergys, in a callcenter in manila and one in IT Park as well. She was also a Prodigal daughter and just like me, she was a daddy's girl. I believe she is now in Manila working as a callcenter agent still. We also had Mark from Tellecare, he was a bisexual and was a kind of a "mahangin". Well, I just let him be like that when we were seatmates and I thank him, I really learned many things about the job. We had John as well, a registered nurse from Cebu Doctors' University. He also had worked in Convergys before and he need to resign because his granny was ill and he needed to attend her. On facebook, I had found out that he was a music lover, cool side of him. We had Dyreen, Ilongga, she was so cute that you will be surprised when you ask her her age. The first time we met, I thought she was 17 or 18 but found out she was already 26 and is married. Shocking really, it looked like I am older than her. The special thing about her was that she has been into a relationship for five or seven years, I guess but ended up breaking with that guy and then got married with another guy whom she has been for seven months only. Super!! I would not forget Mercy as well, also a Boholana. She was the Miss Friendship of the group because she had earned a lot of friends on the floor. She had a great crush on this guy named Alberto and we would always tease her about him. Well, she had a bad experience though and was the reason why she had to leave the account. But, as I can see, she is happy and contented with her work today. We had Bern Angulo as well, the small but terrible licensed engineer of the team. We get along so well with this man, he has a girlfriend who is also a Boholana so we talk much about her and Bohol. He was a cool guy, he had been a top agent and was good in taking calls for me. The reason why he resigned was because of the financial side. Well, as of now, he is with Convergys already and supporting Windows 7 account.
So those were the teammates who went on their ways, so the persons left are, yours truly, Tanya Mae Pinili, Daryl Gapor, Reggy Sultan, Kyle Magallano, Malvin Kim Diaz, Evan Marie Penzon and Loreto Gaerlan. Happy Anniversary guys! Way to go... Looking forward to more years together!!!
