Cebu To Bohol Via Getafe

Had a funny experience last Friday going to Bohol, it was my first time going to bohol via Getafe. Now just for your information, Getafe is a town after Talibon and is just a 45 minute travel from Cebu via a fastcraft.

Getafe Bohol
Here's the story, I logged out of work at seven morning last Friday, went to Jollibee with Jsames for breakfast and rode a cab to Cebu City's port number three. It was already eight when we reached the ticket booth for Starcraft bound for Tubigon. Was a bit frustrated and disappointed because I missed the 8:30 schedule, said it is already fully booked. Since I can't do anything about it, I went ahead to the waiting area and patiently waited for 10:30 boat. While sitting alone (James went back immediately due to a stomach ache) a woman of her forties spoke to me about the travel schedules. She had just exchanged her ticket from via Tubigon to via Jetafe because the latter departs earlier and she was like inviting me to do the same. I talked to her for awhile out of courtesy until I realized that Getafe is actually after Talibon and Talibon is just a few hours to Ubay and that means it's nearer my town.

I jumped off my seat and went on asking how I could possibly change my tickets too. Good thing the Getafe craft don't have that much passengers and the person in charge allowed me to just get into the boat without changing tickets. Happy me!!!

Now the surprise didn't end there actually because when the fast craft started sailing it's butt off, it had also played the avengers movie. Yeah I know it's not yet on DVD but you know how pirates work right? So though the copy doesn't have a 10/10 quality as well as its audio, I was still keenly watching it. I love to see the actions you know. Unfortunately, we reached Getafe at ten so that was an hour of travelling and I didn't finish the movie which was a bummer. I swear I would get a copy of that movie with subs in the future.

Fully Booked on Christmas Season

What I don't like a bit about Holidays is the rush for seats on boats, ships or fast crafts. If you working away from home like me, celebrating Christmas alone away from the family would surely be devastating. In my experience, I was unable to go home for Christmas for the two previous years because of work demand. It's good to know that for this year, I won't be spending it alone anymore. My vacation leave requests have been approved for December 23 and 26 so I will be home from then.

However, it's not an assurance that one can get home as soon as you want. There will be problems like fully booked boats and weather change. There was a recent storm which hit the country and which had caused a severe damage to the country. I am referring to the storm named Sendong. Of course you must have known about that killer storm. Anyway, these are just matters we can't handle and we can't do anything about it.

I'd Got No Choice

I didn't had any other choice than to ride the 1:30pm trip to Tubigon, Bohol via Jadestar shipping. I found it very disturbing, very disturbing. While on the waiting area, I observed the ship since it was just floating right in front of us. By merely looking at it, you can conclude that it is too old. The structure's not sturdy if you look at it plus old rusty life boats placed on top were alarming. I was thinking that if the boat will sink during the travel, no one can definitely go in and survive with that kind. They might drown because of it instead. And there's no laying, all will be seating actually, the ticket costs Php 150 only though. This is the ship:

Let me show you what's inside...

To Bohol via Talibon

Everytime I go back home to Bohol, I would usually travel via Tubigon or Tagbilaran and way back in college, I would travel via Ubay so going to Bohol through Talibon has always been my last option. But I had no other option yesterday, we have to ride the 12 noon ship to Talibon because there was no ship to Ubay on Sundays and going via Tubigon would take time to get to Guindulman and I was dying to reach home and eat "sapajan" or in Cebuano "pasayan". Our neighbors had this fishpond and they sell real cheap shrimps and bangus. My papa would buy and cook me "sinigang na sapayan" which is my favorite.

Well enough for that, it makes me hungry thinking of that big yummy shrimps. So going back, James and I headed to Pier 3, since I don't know where the ticketing office is, I asked a "kuya", an elderly man about it. We were able to buy our tickets worth Php 260 each and then realized that the kuya who helped us get our tickets has his own modus opirande - to sell us his otaps and ampao. We felt pity so we decided to buy one but kuya insisted to buy three packs instead "para wala daw kida". Tired of refusing we just bought the three packs for Php 100.

Inside the port, I was amazed because the terminal ticket was quite different compared to Pier Uno's. They have e-tickets instead of the yellow one but both of them costs Php 10.
