Kusina Uno: Best Pocherohan in Cebu

The best pocherohan - Kusina Uno is known as such because of their famous pochero  or stew which had captured each Cebuano-pochero sucker who had visited their place in F. Cabahug Street, in Mabolo. And yes, the place is just a few steps from the office, best place to spend an unplanned and quick team socials.

I couldn't recall the date but I guess it was before All Souls day that we gathered there for a quickie team breakfast. At eight in the morning our breakfast was all served, all 15 of us got the plates emptied, guess we were all hungry.

It was hard to capture the food served because the hungry suckers took them off right after it was served. However I hope I can still recall what we had ordered, Lechon Kawali, Buttered chicken, Kinilaw, Calamares, Fried Lumpia and of course their beef pochero. We had their pitcher sized Iced tea for our drinks.

Snacks at Joven's Grill and Seafood

For Php 85, we had plunged our taste buds to Joven's Grill and Seafood's Eat  All You Can for Snacks in IT Park, Lahug Cebu. It was because of another team reshuffling, we had to spend time with our new team mates so to build camaraderie between us.

The Merienda time starts at three in the afternoon until five, just good timing because we go out from the office at 2:00 pm. Only few were dining when we arrived and so we immediately started to get food.

There were sandwiches, bam-i, fish fillet and etc. Rice was as well served, pizzas and deserts however, I think the food looks good but the taste wasn't great! It was not tasty, for instance, the fish fillet was lacking its saltiness. The pizza tasted like just garlic bread with little garlic on it. The deserts were not sweet at all. Our excitement had turned into disappointment though we couldn't grouch much because all of these were worth Php 85 only. I guess the cook had just tantrums that day because I had heard good comments about their snack foods here via Facebook comments and blog reviews.

My Epic Fail Passport Application

As one of the recipients of RA 7687 S&T Scholarships 4-year program, it is my obligation to give back to our country what it has given me as well so it never came to me to apply for a passport because I won't be able to travel out of the country to work or even to have a vacation unless I can secure a clearance letter from the DOST office. Though my brother had been encouraging me so I could work in Dubai with him, I didn't have any other choice than to wait for four years. However, I had read a lot of blog posts about a co-DOST scholars who haven't finish their obligation yet were able to travel abroad and work there and recently, I learned about the memo concerning DOST scholars' right to travel dated June 14, 2012 wherein all DOST scholars don't have any more derogatory records in the Bureau of Immigration database. And so to verify this, I sent an email to BI regarding the said memo and their reply... Tada!!!

"Dear Maam:
We referred your concern to the Verification Certification Section and they would like to inform you that the name Jean B. Beltran has no Derogatory record in the database as of October 18, 2012."

And so this post had come up, my first attempt to apply for a passport was last Monday, November 5, 2012. Confidently, James and I arrived at Pacific Mall Mandaue City at seven in the morning. I never expected the scene I saw - four long lines of tired yet hopeful Filipino citizens who just like me want to get their own passport and travel abroad. And so I got discouraged to continue and instead went back home which I truly regret, it was a mistake because I never went down and ask for certain questions regarding the application.
