Mouthful Week For Team Spankers

Eating at an expensive food place without spending a cent is one of the beauties of working in a BPO company. The company spends some amount on each employee quarterly so he or she can go out either visit a new place, spend time with their teams on a team social session or either eat on some expensive “slash” eat all you can restaurant.

Because of the account support change which I had gone through last four months ago, I was not able to use my second and third quarter budgets and so are my colleagues and so, my ex-lead got our entire budget and resulted to a very big big sum of money. Our team was called the Team Spankers by the way for no exact reason why it's named that way.

We first planned our team building and decided to go to Moalboal, my dear friend Darwin’s home town and we were very much thrilled about the thought of going out of town until our ex-lead busted that huge bubble dream because of unforeseen circumstances. That may be heart breaking but our stomach become full because of it, why? Because we ended up having allocating the budget for food instead, boy we had filled our stomachs with gladness!

We're Three Years Now

Officially, I had just spent three long years in call center last May 11, 2012. Oh I can’t believe I am still in this work field and I guess I am staying. But this post is not just about my experience but about my wave-mate’s whole three-year experience as well. The previous year, we came up with a lunch date at Pino Restaurant while this time, we decided for dinner at Ding Qua Qua in JY Square Lahug.

Unlike before, only a few of the original wave 60 team showed up, made me think the others are now busy with their lives but overall it was still fun. Daryl, Mercy, Ate Dyreen, Reggy, TL Michelle along with Tittah came though Tittah was not really a part of our team, he was invited by Daryl and I tagged James too! As usual, we started the whole night with eating at six then laughing and waiting for the others. I was super glad Ate Dyreen came, she looks young as usual and I just learned she is just working at home now. We were kidding her to get a baby as soon as possible so she could get a company at home, she just laughed.

Mercy is still the same happy-go-lucky lad, she has this pure, innocent laugh and you’ll get amazed by how fast she talks. I appreciated her time attending the date even though she has a duty at nine. I had a great time catching up with her, I guess the last time we met was the previous lunch date too with the team. I also learned from her that she is now living alone, she was under her aunt’s roof the last time and I am glad she is now living independently, soo love this gal.

SPX Christmas Party 2011 at Mountain View

December is my second favorite month of year because parties and gift giving is happening all month long, I find it really pleasing to my eyes. In line with that, our team just had our Christmas party yesterday. I know its very early knowing it's still the first week of the December. It was intentionally planned this way because of the drastic changes that our account is experiencing right now.

See most of the team mates are going to another account next week and that made the party that early. The truth is that our team had gone through some emotional challenges because of the transfer that had happen, most of the people who were transferred are those who had been with the account for more than five years. They had already considered the account as their second home and it was really painful leaving the support. It had become their comfort zones, though it was really unacceptable they got no other choice than to leave and move on. Change is really inevitable especially in this type of job, I am just blessed that I was not included in the transfer.

Team Papa Joe Lunch At Casa Verde

Though I am not anymore part of the Team Papa Joe, I am glad I was invited for the team lunch which happened yesterday and took place at Casa Verde in Ayala Terraces. We had a great time and laughed alot, as in a lot! Unlike before,  everyone was present yesterday. We got a prize from making to the top team for our account's overall stack ranking for the month of April. And as a celebration to that, we held this team lunch. Actually,we thought of eating at Banana Leaf but for some reasons, we ended up eating at Casa Verde which we didn't regret anyway.

Our "chikas" and laughter was interrupted when we learned that Loreto had already submitted his resignation. Without us knowing, his last night shift was last Sunday and though it maybe a sad thing that we will not be having him anymore in the future team lunch or any meal, we are happy because he is now moving into his greener pasture. He is actually going abroad but will be staying in the country first for his short term studies. Well, farewell and congrats Loreto!   One good vibe was that he never let that event pass by, he made it to our team lunch without being late! Lol

Anyway, Casa Verde's specialty is the Baby Back Ribs also known as Brian's Baby Back Ribs. The serving was too much for me, if you are just an average eater like me, most women do, the serving is too much for sure. I was not able to finish it up but decided not to take it out then, most of my colleagues went out with the packed lunch. Now it is not just yummy and tender! It is also affordable, you can share it also if you want for Php 198.

Wave 60's 2nd Year at Pino

team picture with Ms. Caca.
Wave 60 had turned 2 years last May 11 and so we came up with a lunch date with the wave mates to celebrate this special event. Though it was a late celebration, we were very happy we were able to spend time with each other and catch up with what has been happening to everyone's lives. Last year, I posted about our first year. Click here for the blogpost.

The following is the complete wave 60 list: Kevin Pulvera, Jeansen Dianne Torre, Evan Marie Penzon, Maria Cristina, Malvin Kim Daiz, Louella Jane Tamboboy, Dyreen Suficencia, Ailyn (Aya), Reggy Sultan, Daryl Gapor, Tanya Mae Pinili, Mercy Mae Dupa, Loreto Gaerlan, Houer Baduel, Kyle Magallano, John Ray, Michael Bern Angulo, Jovy De Guzman, Nikolai Marfa, EJ, Mark Tolo and yours truly.

We were originally 20 but as of now only seven of us are still in Sykes, namely Tanya, Loreto, Reggy, Evan, Kyle, Daryl and me, of course.

So yesterday was our lunch date, Tanya and I had been the most punctual guys. Soon, Mercy, Reggy and Kim came then John too. We started eating since most of us were already starving. Some who committed to come called or sent some messages informing us that they can't come. Specially our original team lead, Michelle and Michael Bern who was admitted because of tonsillitis, get well soon Bern. Though we felt bad they were unable to come, we still managed to be joyful during the whole time we were there. We updated each other upon what had been happening with our lives. We learned that John is now a businessman, Mark Tolo in the other hand is in Accenture with a confidential position, his looks show that he is in the higher management and he did mention that he is handling people, wow. Voj is under OJT and will soon graduate, he stopped working because he needed to focus on his study. Mercy, the jolly gal of the group had stayed the same, still a funny girl and still single. She has been paired with most of the guys, John, Reggy, Voj and Marfa. Here's a photo of Mercy and Reggy:

Team Papa Joe's Lunch at MoØØn Café

We just had our first team lunch yesterday since the reshuffling five months ago.  There is only one reason why a team can't get any team socialization budget and that is because their stats are low. So that means, for almost five months, we were one of the bottom performers. So sad!

That does not mean that I didn't perform well the last months, as a matter of fact I got really good grades or stats on every agent attribute. It's just that the total average score of the whole team was not good. Most of us were having some challenges with some of the attributes, one to mention was our QA scores. But anyway that was all history because we have been on the top for the last month and now, we all received the fruit of our labor.

We were thinking of two options, either we will add it to our team building budget which will be on the coming months or just use it for a team lunch since we haven't done it yet ever since. Everyone opted the latter and so we went and voted for a good place to eat.

Listed were the nominated restos:

Gerry's Grill
TGI fridays
Pancake House
Max
Pier One
SM food court
Pizza Hut
Mc Donald's
Shakey's
Wendy's

It was funny because we ended up picking Mooon Café which in the first place was not part of the options. So we went there for lunch, my bad because I arrived an hour late which means, everyone is already eating and I was still waiting for my 10-15 minute waiting order. That's fine though since James was also there, both of us waited for our Mexican Back Ribs. We ordered the same menu anyway.

My Mexican Back Rib was a huge serving. I was not able to finish it all up so I ended up taking it out. Hehe it saved my dinner!

Here are some of our team photos at Mooon
Café :
