I Just Got Sketched

Peter Cagampang Cadorna's work. I am happy he made my wish come true at last. I have been looking for anyone who can draw or sketch a portrait of me and Pedro became the perfect one because this is totally for free. So who is Pedro? I call him pedro, a visayan version for Peter, he is my secondary classmate in Guinacot High School. We had known each other since sophomore year and we had been friends since then. We only communicate in facebook and it has been rare lately until I saw his sketches on his online profile.

I wish I could have the original one, I will surely get it once I come home to Bohol. But for now, I am happy with this though it isn't that perfect, at least it can be recognized as me. Here is the copy posted on facebook, this one at the top was edited in photoshop.

The first video that I was able to see was their Just The Way You Are version:

More of Dumaguete City

As early as seven in the morning, both of us were already out in the streets of Dumaguete City. I love the silence and though it is a city, there were only a few vehicles roaming around. We were really strangers out there, we didn't know what to do and where to go, blame it to the planner. Well, we were not serious of planning where to go before we reached here. Anyway, since we were already there, we just enjoyed it.

We reached this moto-lending stall, I was not interested in borrowing one and driving the whole city but James was persistent. He said we will just ask how much but after awhile, I found myself riding it already. He doesn't have a driver's license so I was forced to drive. This is my first time to drive in a city and I was really nervous. I can't drive straight! Good thing there weren't jeepneys and huge buses there. The city reminds me of Tagbilaran City where the means of transportation is just tricycles.

It was good to have a motorcycle to tour around the city but it was a hassle because we don't know where to go, we were just driving around in circles. BTW, we rented the vehicle Php150 every five hours. Since Robinsons is a bit far from the main city, we decided to go there but since it was too early, the mall was still closed. We just toured around the area.

Travel: Rizal Boulevard

Three years isn't long if you are happy.

This was a comment by a former colleague after knowing that James and I had just celebrated our third anniversary last August 24, 2011. Indeed, it was like we just started our relationship yesterday. I could still remember when I was in my freshman year in college, he was the only guy who got my attraction but I didn't give it any meaning because way back then, he was in a relationship as well. We were matched by our circle of friends when we were already in our senior year.  And then the rest is history.

We had our pre-anniversary celebration at Dumaguete City last August 21-22, 2011. Dumaguete is beautiful, it's been known as the city of gentle people and I must say, the city is very safe, calm and of course lovely.

I posted about how we get there, where we stayed and today, I wanna share with you the highlight of our Dumaguete City travel - Dumaguete's Rizal Boulevard. I fell in love with it that night. After reaching the city, we went straight to Rizal Boulevard and were surprised because of the number of people in the area. There were students in groups who were marching around the city and I just knew that it was Siliman University's 110 Foundation Day. Siliman University is quiet famous because it is the first protestant university founded here in the Philippines. The students in the campus are from all sorts of families also. Most of them are foreigners or meztizos. A large percentage of their student population comes from well known families and those who are rich ones.

Movies Watched: Soul Surfer

photo from connect.in.com
See that surfer above? What do you thik? Outstanding wave surf right? But would you believe that the lady in that photo has only one arm? Yes, she lost her left arm in a shark attack in 2003. She is Bethany Hamilton, 21 and is a professional surfer. I just watched the movie Soul Surfer which was based on her autobiography Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family and Fighting to Get Back on the Board. Check her blog at Bethanyhamilton.com.

The rest of Bethany's story can be googled. The casts of the movie were Anna Sophia Rob as Bethany, Dennis Quaid as her dad, Helen Hunt as her mom, Ross Thomas her brother, Carrie Underwood as Sarh Hill, her spritiual concilour, Lorraine Nicholson as her bestfriend.

Hotel Nicanor

Way before going to Dumaguete, I had already asked Mr. Google about the affordable hotels to stay in in the city. Among the list, I chose Hotel Nicanor because so far they had the best webpage I had seen and the accommodation suited what I had expected. I would say that their webpage would be one of the things that hotel owners must develop well because today's generation is a web-based one. So people most specially travelers would consider checking on the net first before going to a tourist spot. The hotel is also accessible because it is just a walking distance from the city stores and of course the Rizal Boulevard.

Anyway, we were greeted by a hospitable front desk officer and was immediately taken cared of. Opted the Matrimonial one for Php 1050 and so we were accompanied by a housekeeper towards room number 409. The hotel uses a switch card for access.

Travel: Dumaguete City Pre-Anniversary Special

How would you feel if you travel to a different island with your loved-one? Ofcourse, you'd be happy, right?!

Aside from Bohol and Cebu, which are our own provinces, James and I haven't gone to any other different island yet and so we had thought of going to somewhere near yet an interesting one. And Dumaguete is the best place! We decided then that we will definitely be going to the island for our third year anniversary and I am just so glad because we made it and yesterday, we were in Dumaguete!

To the South:

We rode on a Ceres Bus Liner via Cebu South Terminal to get to Bato Santander port. Our seat numbers 39 and 40 and at exactly 1:00, we were on our way there. It would take five hours to get to Dumaguete City. The truth is, there were two options, we can either take a bus to Liloan port and take a boat towards Dumaguete or just simply ride on the ceres bus until it reach Dumaguete, which means, the bus will be shipped via a barge ship to Dumaguete. We opted the second. Bus ride costs Php 200 per head.

A Date at Cebu's Shoe Capital

Astonished ~ that's what I felt when James and I visited Carcar City for the first time last Sunday, August 14, 2011. Carcar City is approximately 40 km south of Cebu and is a one hour and a half drive from the heart of Cebu. It is best known as the Shoe Capital of Cebu and so the photo above explains it. That shoe is probably the biggest shoe I have ever seen my entire life but it seem to be very old. The skins on the frontal part has been torn already yet, it is still the largest shoe I have seen so far.

I had to travel by myself last Sunday because James went home to Oslob and we just agreed to met at Gaisano Carcar branch. It was my first time as well to ride on a mini bus alone. It was amazing because the mini bus runs a lot faster than those large buses. It was a perfect timing because by the time I reached the mall, James just got off the bus as well. We ate our lunch at Mang Inasal which we actually regret afterwards. James had a business affair during the afternoon so we need to hurry up and go to where we want to. We first went to the town's Shoe Expo where we found a lot of stalls all selling world class shoes, hand-made sandals and of course the customized fad Espadrilles.

We went from stall number 1 up to the end and were astonished with the designs. I had my eyes set on some new designs, new because it was my first time to see those kinds of espadrilles. The prices are also affordable since the quality is really good, prices range from Php 100 to 400 depending on the design and the materials used. There were espadrilles on sale too.

Hill-Top Viewing at Sunflower Malbog Resort

At the hills of Malbog Jagna, Bohol rises an airy family resort named Sunflower Malbog resort. Owned by Mrs. Sarah Gallendez, you will never expect something like this to emerged because the hills are quiet distant from the main town. James and I together with my family had a chance to spend an entire afternoon there enjoying ourselves with nature's beauty right before our eyes.

Approximately two kilometers away from downtown jagna. you won't be worried because soon trail signs will be placed in each corners to guide the visitors. The resort is still undergoing development, they will be opening it for the public before this year ends. But actually, since their KTV bar is already ready, they would allow some customers to use it.

Since the resort is still under construction, the resort offers videoke bars as of the moment. However, as per the management, once the resort is done, they will be offering a lot of services which they haven't disclosed yet. Their KTV is cheap, you can play two songs for just Php 5.00

Me Hearts Korean Drama: 49 Days

In just a week, I was able to finish this Korean Drama entitled "49 Days" aka "Pure Love". I'm glad that I was able to finish it up quickly, I say quickly because most of the time, it takes me two to three weeks to finish a series since I am working. The truth is, I was currently watching the Lee Min Ho's "City Hunter" and I was at episode 19 when ABS-CBN started airing the "Pure Love". Since City Hunter's 19th episode was not yet available at that time, BTW I watch the videos at Youtube of course, I was tempted to check on the said series. I got attached to it's drama and a bit of comedy so I went straight and just a few minutes ago, I found myself on it's final parts already. That was pretty quick!

Let me share my own quick review as well, so the story revolves around Ji-Hyun (Nam Gyu-Ri), a happy go lucky woman living her perfect life as the only daughter of a rich loving parents. She has two best friends and was soon to be married to her fiance. Kang Min Ho (Bae Soo Bin), Ji-Hyun's  fiance who has a hidden agenda towards Ji-Hyun's family company. Song Lee Kyung (Lee Yo Won), a depressed woman who caused Ji-Hyun's untimely death but ended to be Ji-Hyun's lost sister. Song Yi-Soo or the Scheduler (Jung Il Woo), portrays as the angel of death but also was revealed as the cause of Song Lee Kyung's five years of suffering. Han Kang (Jo Hyeon-Jae), secretly inlove with Ji-Hyun and the first person who found out that she is using Lee Kyung's body during daytime.

My Pulsing Eyelids

my eyes :)
Have you ever experienced this kind of feeling where in your eyelids tend to pulse involuntarily every now and then?

Well, I was kinda scared because my lower left eyelid has been pulsing constantly for almost two weeks now. Everyday, I would feel it pulse at a time then it disappears and then starts pulsing again. It's intermittent and is very annoying.

I can't seem to find any reasons why it is doing it so i asked my colleagues if they have any idea what is happening here. Some say it happens when you are tired or stressed. I of course believed them and so I tried getting more sleep and make sure not to stress myself out. I tried that during the first week but then, there was no progress so I searched about it. I used the terms eyelids pulsing and best-friend Google showed me the answers.

Now I found out that the real culprit is caffiene and I guess it's kinda true because I had been drinking two to three cups of coffee during my entire shift almost two months now. That makes it 15 cups of coffie per week, excluding the coffee I drink at home which usually range from one to two cups. I guess I have to minimize it or shall I say stop drinking it.

Facebook Old Chat Box is Back For Real

Well at last I have my old Facebook chat box today and it was such a relief. Before, I was not interested of converting it back since I don't usually use it. Ever since before, I am not that fond of chatting right on the site. Whenever someone pm's me, I kinda gets disturbed and that I feel like I am obliged to reply to them, this is for those cases where the chatter is someone I don't really know actually. Anyways, just today I realized that I really need to change it back to it's old state. The reason is that I had joined a contest and I need to get more points through Facebook fan page Likes and other ways.

Since I had already talked about the blog contest, then let me ask you a favor as well. Please like Domestic Cherry and Secondhand Philosophy pages in Facebook. Just click on the links! Then please message me in Facebook (click here) and provide your email address. Or simply fill up the form(click here). Inside the form, there are also fields for Google Friend Connect or GFC username and Email address, these are for the blog follow so  please visit the main website and click the join this site buttons. Here are the blogs that you need to follow: Domestic Cherry, {cherry} everyday, Secondhand Philosophy and Low-fat diaries, mind you, these blogs are all informative and one of the best blogs I have ever visited. Bare in mind that you will need to add your info on the form and then hit on the submit button! Thank you soo much!

Going back to the main course here, so as I have said, I reverted my chat box to the old one. The Seriously {functional} Giveaway was just one of the reasons and the main one is that the new chat box is ugly. I can't seem to find all of my online friends, the firsts on the list are those you mostly had interacted with and so leaving behind those you don't really get to interact on the site, which I think and most users think is an epic fail. Then here comes the invisible scroll bar, I dunno. I just don't like it so I switched back which was kinda easy. Wanna know how? Follow these steps:

Sunday Date at Taoist Temple

Sunday is considered as our "date" day because both James and I are free so it's the only time that we can spend a whole day together. Aside from going together to Church, we need to go out and bond a little. For the past three weeks, we made it a point that we should roam around Cebu, anywhere nice and in which we haven't been to. Last time, we've been to Crocolandia where Lapu-lapu, the biggest crocodile in Cebu is situated. We also visited the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House last week and felt the ancient days inside the treasured house. And then yesterday, July 31, 2011 we finally made it to Taoist Temple in Lahug, Cebu City.

Taoist Temple is a sanctuary of prayers, meditations and worship for Taoism, the religion which follows the teachings of the ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao Tze. It is located in Beverly Hills Subdivision in Cebu City, Philippines. The temple is open to the worshipers and non-worshipers, one good thing is that admission is free! I had been there once when I was still I guess three or four years of age, I still have some vivid memories about our visit.

Going to Taoist Temple isn't hard, you can go there with your private vehicle or commute. With our case, we got to ride on a public vehicle. From downtown Cebu, we rode PUJ route number 17B to Sudlon, Lahug. From there, we stepped on a habal-habal (public used motorcycles) for Php 10 per head. Since habal-habals can't get inside the Beverly Hills subdivision, we just walked approximately 10 minutes to the main spot. It wasn't tiring at all because the weather was gloomy that time and we had each others. But a few blocks before the temple, it rained! Bummer! Good thing I brought with me my super umbrella, we were lucky that it didn't rain hard.
